We first heard Simon Lynge's music in Astoria, Oregon in a small little sweet spot owned by Scott Docherty, "The Red Hare," in 2011. We fell in love with Simon's conscious - thought provoking lyrics, melodic harmonies and expansive guitar riffs. We've been following Simon's journey and sharing his music ever since.
We realize what a special evening that was years ago, considering Simon is NOW a widely known international musician.
After a major hand injury this year, Simon Lynge is back with a seriously amazing single, "Age of Distraction."
Simon shared in an interview:
“I just wanted to acknowledge the underlying anxiety of existence in this age and the longing for connection that I believe is so pervasive in modern humans,” explains Lynge. “We have instant access to information, but our knowledge of the source of a meaningful life is at an all-time low. We look out of our eyes and forget to observe with our heart.”
I am deeply moved by this song and want to share it far and wide!!
Lyrics of “Age of Distraction” by Simon Lynge
Cracks are getting deeper
Storms are growing bigger
Feel like we’re living in the eye of a hurricane
We vote for leaders
Killers and deceivers
Maybe we’re flying on a hijacked aeroplane
Wo-oh oh-oh...wo-oh-oh-oh-oh
Wo-oh oh-oh...wo-oh-oh-oh-oh
Millions of people
Running from a tragedy
Pure desperation and nowhere to go
Who do we think we are?
Closing all our borders down
These people are not our enemy
Someday they could be you or me
Wo-oh oh-oh...wo-oh-oh-o
h-oh
(Come on)
While we’re living in the age of distraction
We’re missing out on half the light of the sun
We need to show up and bear witness to our lives
Cause something isn’t working
When kids are suicidal
Let’s fall in love with mother nature again
Wo-oh oh-oh...wo-oh-oh-oh-oh
(In love with mother nature again)
Wo-oh oh-oh...wo-oh-oh-oh-oh
Modified genetics
Oceans full of plastic
It’s hard to be a human in a cynical machine
This is the only home we got
This tiny little blue dot
There’s really nowhere else to go
There’s really nowhere else to go
There’s really nowhere else to go
While we’re living in the age of distraction
We’re missing out on half the light of the sun
We need to show up and bear witness to our lives
Cause something isn’t working no, something isn’t working
Oh while we’re living in the age of distraction
We’re missing out on half the light of the sun
Oh we need to show up and bear witness to our lives
Cause something isn’t working
When kids are suicidal
Let’s fall in love with mother nature again
Wo-oh oh-oh...wo-oh-oh-oh-oh
(In love with mother nature again)
Wo-oh oh-oh...wo-oh-oh-oh-oh [3x]
